What do you love most about working at Stytch?

Aiden (AF): As the first brand designer, I love that I helped build the brand and that I get to continue to grow and evolve it — basically I get to do what I love every day! I also love that at Stytch, we have built a company culture in which everyone has a seat at the table and all ideas are welcomed.

Ovadia (OH): I’m a big fan of the team. The team comes from a range of experiences and backgrounds, and I’ve learned a lot from everyone at the company, and most importantly everyone is fun and enjoyable to work with.

What does a typical day at Stytch look like for you?

AF: I don’t think a typical day really exists for me but during the week I am usually heads down on a design project, reviewing design work and providing feedback or in meetings.

OH: I work on east coast hours, so while the rest of the team is snoozing, I get most of my code writing, code reviews and other heads-down work done in the morning. The afternoons are a mix of pairing with the team, writing technical specs and once in a while a meeting.

What’s been the most surprising thing about Stytch?

AF: The rate at which we’ve scaled! It’s been really amazing to watch the team grow from 10 people to 50+ in little over a year.

OH: The pace and progress we’re able to make as a company. Everyone is heads down working and it is impressive what we are able to achieve.

Stytch has gone from 0-1 in the last year, what have been some of your biggest learnings about joining an early stage company?

AF: It is rewarding and fun to be apart of an early stage company but you have to be ready for a lot of change and pivots along the way. It’s been important for me to stay adaptable and flexible.

OH: It’s incredible what you learn from your early customers — you really can’t build in a vacuum. You need to always be talking to your customers and having them use your product.

What’s your favorite part of the Stytch culture?

AF: Everyone is a team player and always happy to jump in and help one another out!

OH:The passion everyone brings to work.

What Stytch value resonates the most with you and why?

AF: Fail fast. As a designer I find myself moving quickly on projects so I can iterate multiple times to get to the best solution. This should be a part of every designer’s DNA.

What’s the most interesting project you’ve worked on at Stytch?

AF: There have been so many already, but my favorite projects have been creating brand systems for the core Stytch brand and our Web3 consumer brand Vessel. I love the branding process and find that it’s my happy place. It’s also very rewarding to start out with just a name on a piece of paper and turn it into a whole visual system.

OH: We migrated our infrastructure we run our core services on and it reduced our deploy time by ~75%.

How did you end up becoming a Brand Designer?

AF: I went to school for graphic design! After graduating from college I moved to San Francisco where I started in advertising but soon pivoted to a small music tech company where I fell in love with in-house design and the impact you can have working with just one brand.

When’s the last time you did something for the first time and what was it?

AF: I’ve been working and living in Portugal for the summer! I’ve never been to Portugal or tried working remotely from another time zone. It’s been a great experience and I’m so grateful the Stytch team has been so supportive.

OH: A couple months ago I was visiting Stytch HQ and I learned how to do my first somersault (at least as an adult). It was riveting.

What song, hobby, or receipe got you through COVID?

AF: None of the above. It was reality TV LOL! I watched a lot of Bachelor and Love Island.

What’s your ideal weekend?

AF: Going on a long walk and ending up a craft brewery.

OH: Beach. Eat. Sleep. Repeat.

What’s something that’s not on your resume that you’re passionate about?

AF: Thrift and vintage shopping! Anytime I travel I always make a point to find the best thrift stores and flea markets.
