We’re excited to announce Event Log Streaming, a feature that allows you to ingest Stytch authentication, authorization, and security events into your log management tools. Support for Datadog and Grafana is available now at launch, and we’re exploring support for additional vendors.

This feature is particularly helpful if you are already using tools or vendors for analysis, investigation, and retention of observability data. Previously Stytch logs were only available through the Stytch dashboard, but with Event Log Streaming, you can stream your Stytch event logs into other services. This allows you to easily correlate Stytch logs with other existing telemetry, and more easily monitor for anomalies.

Why Use Event Log Streaming?

While we have put in a lot of effort to make the Stytch Dashboard as useful and informative as possible, one limitation it has is that it only hosts your Stytch related logs. Adding more tools creates more friction, requiring you to constantly context switch between your observability tooling and our Dashboard. Client side logging is a solution some teams use to observe a user’s authentication flow, but it also has some downsides and limitations. Instead, we make it easy to stream Stytch’s existing logs to your observability tools.

Event Log Streaming natively integrates Stytch logs into your observability stack, allowing you to use existing tools, unify insights, and customize analytics—while maintaining full control over log storage and retention.

Streaming Event Logs to Datadog

Datadog is a commonly used tool for companies to manage logs, metrics, traces, and other events in one central platform. Today, you can pipe event logs directly from Stytch into Datadog to associate with any other logs, traces, or events that live in your Datadog environment. This will make it easier not only to store, but to investigate any potential issues or suspicious activity from multiple vectors.

Streaming Event Logs to Grafana Loki

Grafana Loki is another popular tool used for observability and log collection, known for its greater focus on open-source, compatibility with Prometheus, and self-hosting capabilities. Our Grafana Loki integration is currently in beta, allowing you to pipe your event logs from Stytch into Loki and correlate them with other metrics, traces, and events in your Grafana ecosystem.

Similar to Datadog, streaming your Stytch event logs into Loki helps you analyze errors and detect potential threats, offering a more comprehensive view of your application's activity.

This is only the beginning with our journey in streaming event logs out of Stytch. Here’s a quick look into our roadmap for the near future.

Self-Serve Capabilities

We expect to let you begin setting up the event log streaming integration without contacting us soon! We will let you configure your integration using the new Stytch Terraform Provider, our Programmatic Workspace Actions SDK, or directly in the Stytch dashboard.
